Woodlawn Community
The Woodlawn neighborhood, located in the west and central sections of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, is home to one fourth of the city's approximate 78,000 residents. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Woodlawn residents live in low income households, earning less than eighty percent (80%) of the area median income. Historically a diverse community, Woodlawn is an entry point for new arrivals to the United States. As a result, fifty-five percent (55%) of Woodlawn's community members represent minority populations, with forty-three percent (43%) of households speaking languages other than English.
